Professional Development and Mentoring Consultant

Christine English joins the U.S. Department of Energy Alumni Network as a Professional Development and Mentoring Consultant following 18 years in the DOE ecosystem across various roles at the National Laboratory of the Rockies (previously National Renewable Energy Laboratory, NREL) and DOE’s Bioenergy Technology Office (BETO). After finishing her post doc at NREL, Christine served as a Technical Advisor to BETO leadership, where she managed multi-million-dollar research portfolios and led multidisciplinary teams. She later served as a Technology Manager for BETO before initiating the verification effort that she eventually grew and expanded at NREL. While leading the due diligence efforts for BETO and AAMTO offices, Christine also served as Principal Scientist for Employee Experience at NREL, where she led people strategy initiatives across the entire national laboratory in partnership with executive leadership. In this role, she designed and led multiple people-centric programs designed to build a healthy culture at the lab and built a lab-wide talent marketplace designed to connect staff with internal opportunities to promote mobility, professional development and save the laboratory money.

She is also the founder of Centric Coaching, where she coaches scientists, engineers, and founders and mentors founders through the Third Derivative accelerator. Christine holds a Ph.D. in Biochemistry and Molecular Genetics from the University of Colorado Health Sciences Center and a B.A. in Chemistry from The College of Wooster.
