How Do I Join the Network?

  • We are an alumni-driven organization, whose mission, priorities, and objectives are guided by the input of our members.

    We believe in the value that the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) alumni community brings to the energy, science, and national security landscapes and seek to support and magnify that impact. Further, we believe the Network has a critical role to play in enabling alumni impact in these areas and supporting alumni professional success.

    We believe the DOE alumni community is critical to the future success of the Department, with the power to meaningfully inform the priorities, effective execution, structure, and staffing of the Department.

  • The DOE Alumni Network welcomes contributions from alumni who have served at DOE and who seek to support the alumni community and the mission of the Department. This includes former DOE federal employees, full-time contractors, interns, fellows, or detailees. Since the organization is geared toward serving alumni, current full-time contractors or employees with the DOE or National Lab are not eligible. Employees or contractors of National Labs are only eligible Network members if they also used to work in the U.S. Department of Energy in any of the capacities listed above. 

    If you are not eligible to join, we encourage you to stay up to date with the Network through our monthly emails and your continued support - whether that’s through sending us job postings, participating in informational webinars where appropriate, attending our in-person gatherings, suggesting alumni news to feature, spreading the word about the Network, or donating.

  • We would love to have you join us! Signing up for the Network is as simple as signing up for our newsletter at the bottom of this page to get connected and stay up to date.  

    After you’ve signed up for the newsletter, please take five minutes to share more about yourself as you join. Fill out this Membership Survey to get opportunities tailored to your former office(s), areas of expertise at DOE, and interest in any working groups. We’ll get in touch with you to follow up!

  • We currently have five active working groups where alumni can get engaged, take on special projects, and make a difference in our community.

    • Membership Working Group: Onboards new members and connects them with working groups.

    • Alumni Support Working Group: Keeps DOE alumni connected by building community and supporting career transitions.

    • Policy Working Group: Harnesses the expertise of DOE alumni to develop analysis on DOE-specific and energy sector wide issues, provide technical assistance to Congress, and envision the future of DOE.

    • Grantee Assistance Working Group: Provides technical assistance to DOE awardees.

    • Communications Working Group: Leads storytelling initiatives through our various digital platforms and advises communications strategies.
