Professional Development: From the Inside Out: DOE Alumni Discuss Landing Federal Contracts (virtual)
In this webinar on Wednesday, September 2, 2026, from 12-1 p.m. ET, learn about the pathways to contracting with DOE to get savvy on ways the Department does business and hear about ways you or your contacts can get engaged. You’ll hear from DOE alumni who are now contracting with the Department – in line with required regulations and ethics - to learn more about their pathway to successfully landing a DOE contract, learn from staff who previously worked to guide diverse small business leaders on grants and funding, and hear from consultants on how to best position your company for success.

Lunch & Learn: Energy & Climate Communications in Theatre, Music, and Entertainment
On Tuesday, July 21, 2026, from 12 - 1 p.m. ET, join our first virtual lunch and learn! This panel brings together former DOE leaders to explore how we communicate urgent climate challenges and solutions to the next generation. What can the arts—including a children's musical and grassroots comedy—do that policy briefs and press releases cannot? And what does it look like when the stories we tell kids, and ourselves, are honest about the world as it is, yet still dare to imagine something better?
Hear from LPO alum Hayley Emerson (producer, musical composer, singer/actor and writer), OCED alum Danielle Lemmon (comedian and once-viral Reddit star), IA alum Martha Kamara (mixed media artist behind the Sustainability Art Project online platform, marine social scientist, and policy specialist), and LPO alum Zainab Mirza (Co-Founder and Co-Host of Watts the Tea).

On Sunday, July 19, 2026, starting at 11:15 a.m. ET, join fellow DOE alumni for lunch at Bread Furst and a musical, Speed Skating Sloth, an original musical co-written and co-produced byIA/LPO alum Hayley Emerson. The show is a Theatre for Young Audiences musical set in an Amazon-inspired rainforest town where a young sloth tries to achieve an impossible dream of speed skating while her community deals with the threat of flooding, energy poverty, and neighborhood displacement -- the same challenges facing real communities across the U.S. and its territories today.
