Our Mission

About Us

The U.S. Department of Energy (DOE) Alumni Network was founded in September 2025 to foster a collaborative community that champions a transformational science and technology agenda for the United States by facilitating non-partisan policy engagement, preserving and sharing institutional knowledge, and supporting career development and networking opportunities for its members.

Mission Statement

The mission of the DOE Alumni Network is to foster a thriving DOE alumni community that plays a central role in supporting each other, championing the transformational science and innovation mission of the Department, and shaping the Department’s role in the nation’s energy, environmental, and security future.

Organizational Pillars

The DOE Alumni Network is guided by three organizational pillars:

Foster Community: Grow a strong and connected alumni community, foster career growth and professional development, and maximize the impact of the community.

Support DOE’s Mission Space: Support priorities, programs, and people within the DOE mission space and provide guidance on DOE capabilities, rules, and processes to affiliated stakeholders.

Envision the Future of DOE: Play a central role in the ideation around and actualization of the modernization of the Department.

Our Areas of Focus

Community Growth and Support: We work to foster an active alumni community through a range of virtual and in-person events and provide robust career transition and professional development resources for former DOE employees, including mentorship and other programming.

Tracking, Explaining, and Highlighting Agency Actions: We use our growing expertise to provide essential context and analysis of DOE’s priorities, budgets, actions, and activities. We also provide technical assistance to DOE awardees on DOE rules and processes.

Envisioning the Future of DOE: We are leading a multi-year effort that seeks to create a non-partisan research, policy, and operational agenda for a stronger and more effective DOE.
