Corey Hinderstein
Advisory Board Member
Corey Hinderstein is a member of the U.S. Department of Energy Advisory Board. Corey is also vice president for studies at the Carnegie Endowment for International Peace, overseeing the Technology and International Affairs Program, the Nuclear Policy Program, and the Sustainability, Climate, and Geopolitics Program. She works primarily on nuclear strategy, security, and nonproliferation issues; and emerging and disruptive technology of strategic consequence.
Hinderstein is a past president and fellow of the Institute of Nuclear Materials Management and served on the board of directors for the World Institute for Nuclear Security. She has also served in advisory capacities for multiple U.S. national laboratories.
Prior to joining Carnegie, she was the acting principal deputy administrator for DOE’s National Nuclear Security Administration and the deputy administrator for Defense Nuclear Nonproliferation. Before her confirmation by the Senate in 2021, Hinderstein was a vice president at the Nuclear Threat Initiative. Corey also served at DOE from 2017-2019.
