In-Person: D.C. Family Event: Lunch and a Musical

On Sunday, July 19, 2026, starting at 11:15 a.m. ET, join fellow DOE alumni for lunch at Bread Furst and a musical, Speed Skating Sloth, an original musical co-written and co-produced by IA/LPO alum Hayley Emerson. The show is a Theatre for Young Audiences musical set in an Amazon-inspired rainforest town where a young sloth tries to achieve an impossible dream of speed skating while her community deals with the threat of flooding, energy poverty, and neighborhood displacement -- the same challenges facing real communities across the U.S. and its territories today.

Agenda below:

  • 11:15 a.m. ET, meet at Bread Furst, 4434 Connecticut Ave, Washington, D.C.

  • 12-1:30 p.m. ET, watch Speed Skating Sloth at the District Fringe Festival
