Tarak Shah is a member of the U.S. Department of Energy Alumni Network Advisory Board and founded the network in 2025. 

Shah served as Chief of Staff of the U.S. Department of Energy from 2021-2022. From 2017-2021, Tarak worked for a variety of advocacy organizations that championed DOE’s role in advancing America’s energy future. 

From 2014-2017, he served as Chief of Staff to the Under Secretary for Science and Energy at DOE. Earlier in his career, Tarak served at the Pentagon spearheading efforts to optimize the U.S. military's energy use and at the White House Council on Environmental Quality.
