Zainab Mirza
Membership Working Group Co-Lead
Zainab Mirza is a clean energy policy and communications leader with experience spanning the public sector and nonprofits within the energy and environment sector. She is an independent consultant providing policy, operations, and communications support for clean energy organizations. She is also the Co-Founder and Co-Host of Watts the Tea, a multichannel creative brand translating complex clean energy topics into engaging, digestible content.
Most recently, she served as the Senior Director for Partnerships and Policy at Clean Energy for America, where she advanced strategic collaborations and policy initiatives supporting the U.S. clean energy industry. Previously, Zainab worked in the U.S. Department of Energy’s Loan Programs Office, where she led implementation of community benefit plans and Tribal engagement across a $25 billion portfolio of clean energy technologies.
Outside of her professional work, Zainab volunteers as Chair of the HOBY Maryland Leadership Conference, serves as Workforce Development Lead for DC Climate Week, and leads the Membership Working Group for the Department of Energy Alumni Network.
Zainab is a graduate of the Clean Energy Leadership Institute (CELI) 2025 cohort and holds a B.A. in International Studies and Environmental Studies from American University.
